Many of you may be familiar with the concept of a “Project 365″ – the goal is to take a photo each day and post it.  I like the concept, mainly because it forces you to be creative each day.  In an effort to help spark my creativity and encourage me to take more pictures, I’m going to start my own Project 365.  Here are some links to help you follow along:

I want to specify up front that my goal is not to make each day’s picture a work of art.  In fact, some may be downright horrible photos but may capture the something about that day that is significant to me.  I’ll also be challenged a bit by my schedule.  There are days when I’m at work for 30 hours straight so I won’t always have access to a nice camera – some of the photos may be from my iPhone.    Ok, enough excuses!  It should be a fun journey so  follow along and enjoy the photos!

During my last visit to Salt Lake City I spent an afternoon shooting with my Dad and brothers (all shutterbugs) around the Utah State Capitol building and Memory Grove Park.  After looking through the shots I decided to stick with a monochrome presentation.  I’ve always been a sucker for black-and-white prints — prior to making the transition to the digital realm most of my creative work was monochromatic.  Below are some of the images from the day.  The first picture of the Capitol Building is actually a stitched composite of 8 images which results in a very detailed high-resolution image.  To see larger versions as well as some other images from the shoot check out the GALLERY.

Recently I had the chance to photograph Amanda & Matt’s Wedding. I enjoy shooting weddings but this was even more special as I have known and worked with Amanda for several years. Their engagement session went well earlier in the year and the wedding day was no different. It all went smoothly and I’m happy with the results. Most importantly, the bride and groom are happily married! Here are a few highlights from the day:

Sometimes the best photos just happen… While recently in Mexico with my family I took a lot of pictures I love – some of which I’ll treasure for a lifetime. My favorite, however, wasn’t planned.

I finally decided to start a blog as part of my photography site. This will give me a place to post images from recent shoots along with commentary as well as and other photography-related musings. There’s not much here yet, but check back frequently for updates!
