Day 27 – Flywheel

March 8, 2010
Flywheel

It would probably be better if I were using the elliptical trainer instead of taking pictures of it…  but it does make for a nice black and white photo.

I can’t argue with that…  Throw on some Nutella and I’ll eat half the box…

Day 25 – Love This Lens

March 6, 2010
Thumbnail image for Day 25 – Love This Lens

My Canon 70-200 F4 L IS lens is one of my favorites.  It’s amazingly sharp (even wide-open at f/4), well built,  and a joy to use.   Oh, and it’s good looking as well.  ;)

Day 24 – CMH Construction and the Mystery Wagon

March 5, 2010
Thumbnail image for Day 24 – CMH Construction and the Mystery Wagon

Today was another 24-hour call day so I had few opportunities to find interesting shots.  The photo is certainly not an artistic shot, but I found the scene somewhat amusing.  The presence of the wagon next to the Danger-Keep-Out makes you wonder where the kid is that parked it there and if he brought his [...]

Day 23 – Two Colors Are Better Than One

March 4, 2010
Thumbnail image for Day 23 – Two Colors Are Better Than One

Lydia is a coloring fiend.  She was showing her skills tonight with both hands and, at times, using several crayons in each hand.  I’ll have to photograph some of her creations in the future and share them.  ;)

Day 22 – Sidewalk and Shadows

March 3, 2010
Thumbnail image for Day 22 – Sidewalk and Shadows

I was walking by the Kansas City Convention Center and noticed that the evening light was creating some very interesting shadows.  The extreme angle of the sunlight accentuated the texture of the walkway and added another interesting dimension to the shot.

March 2, 2010
Thumbnail image for Day 21 – Lydia Loving a Cool Evening Outdoors

The sun was out this evening so we took the kids out to play in the yard.  It was still pretty chilly but we had fun anyway.  The evening light was perfect so I brought out the camera – this was my favorite of the evening:

Day 20 – Supporting 12th Street

March 1, 2010
Supporting 12th Street

I love shooting in the West Bottoms by downtown Kansas City – I guarantee you’ll see some more shots from this area.  I liked the strong lines, contrast, and composition of this scene.  Again, you can see I’m gravitating towards the monochrome portrayal here…  I’m sure I’ll get more into color when this long and [...]

Day 19 – Going Up

February 28, 2010
Going Up

Another 24 hours in the hospital means little time for picture taking…  During the evening I went across the street to Truman Medical Center to check on a baby in the NICU and snapped this on the way up with my phone.

Day 18 – Brother and Sister

February 27, 2010
Thumbnail image for Day 18 – Brother and Sister

Today’s photo isn’t necessarily artistic, but would certainly qualify as “cute”.  I realized recently that I have few snapshots of my twins TOGETHER – probably because, at 2 1/2 years old, they’re always running and usually in the opposite direction.  So, this photo will appeal more to the family in the crowd, but really, who  [...]

Day 17 – Sunset at Kemper Arena

February 26, 2010
Thumbnail image for Day 17 – Sunset at Kemper Arena

Kemper Arena in Kansas City is a great venue and a very interesting structure. I see it every day from the highway as I drive to and from work and decided to go take some photos on the way home today. The image below is a panorama of 5 vertical shots.

I can’t wait for the weather to warm up!  I’m looking forward to grilling outdoors and eating on the patio.  As you can see, it’ll have to wait…

Day 15 – Blowing Off Steam

February 24, 2010
Thumbnail image for Day 15 – Blowing Off Steam

With the freezing temperatures and clear sky the steam was especially prominent this morning. I’m sure I’ve seen this steam coming from the top of one of the hospital buildings for years, but it finally caught my eye – probably because I was trying to find a shot on the way to work before [...]
